The letter written in April to the Chief Secretaries of all states and union territories on behalf of DOT secretary, Neeraj Mittal said, “The competitive strength of BSNL and MTNL in the telecom sector is increasing and in the context of the decision taken before the Union Cabinet, all departments, agencies, landlords of the state government, public sector fields, branches and branches of public sector. It is requested to consider using BSN and MTNL services for leased line needs. ”
In the fourth quarter of the last financial year, BSNL recorded a net profit of about Rs 280 crore. This is the first time after 18 years when BSNL has gained profit in two consecutive quarters. The company has helped to increase the revenue in the mobile segment with 4G service. In the last financial year, this government telecom company has lost about Rs 2,247 crore. It is 58 percent less than the company’s loss of about Rs 5,370 crore in the last financial year. BSNL has done its highest capital experience in the last financial year. The company’s Ebitda margin has also increased. The company’s operating revenue in the last financial year is about 7.8 percent to about Rs 20,841 crore.
